Promoting Eco Friendly Environment
Each time volunteers of Nurture Nature Foundation step onto the beaches of Chorkor, James Town, Korle Gonno, and other coastal communities in Accra, they arrive with gloves, waste bags, and determination. Within hours, plastics are cleared, debris is removed, and stretches of shoreline begin to resemble the tourism assets Ghana promotes to the world.
The historic coastal enclave of Ga Mashie came alive last Saturday as residents gathered early at the forecourt of the Ga Mashie Development Agency (GAMADA), drawn by an initiative that promised more than routine medical checks. By midmorning, the space had transformed into a bustling open air health centre, as the Nurture Nature Foundation (NNF), in partnership with the Rotary Club of Accra Premier International, Alma Medical Laboratory, Jibu Ghana Water, GAMADA and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), rolled out a comprehensive preventive health and sanitation outreach for the community.
Hundreds of residents of Ga Mashie converged at the forecourt of the Ga Mashie Development Agency (GAMADA) on Saturday, Jan. 17, as health professionals, Non-Governmental Organization Group, and development partners came together to provide free medical screening and renewed calls for improved sanitation in one of Ghana’s oldest communities.
